Most Republican voters clueless on who vote for, new poll shows

The vast majority of Republican voters are yet undecided on who to vote for, a new poll shows.

The new CBS/New York Times poll released Tuesday also shows that Ben Carson edges ahead nationally in the GOP party.

The retired neurosurgeon is narrowly in front of American real estate mogul Donald Trump for the first time prior to the 2016 presidential election.

Twenty-six percent of Republican primary voters go for Carson while 22 percent favor Trump.

Other republican candidates fall behind the two with a significant difference.

Senator Marco Rubio of Florida is the choice of only eight percent of the voters while governor Jeb Bush of Florida and former Hewlett-Packard chief executive Carly Fiorina, are are favored by only seven percent.

Four percent also voice support for Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky, Senator Ted Cruz of Texas, former governor Mike Huckabee of Arkansas and fovernor John R. Kasich of Ohio.

Only 28 percent of the candidates said they had med up their mind while more than half said they were paying “a lot” of attention to the campaign.

The New York Times likened the GOP race to an “unsettled field” in the runnup to the next Republican debate set to be held Wednesday.

“The poll represents a single waypoint in a long nominating process that has already seen considerable volatility,” it said.

The nationwide telephone poll was conducted between October 21 and 25.
