A controversial trade deal between the EU and the US will be struck by the end of this year.

Chief negotiators of a highly controversial trade deal between the EU and the US say they are confident that an accord will be struck this year. Rights campaigners say the agreement will give unprecedented powers to corporations while standards for EU citizens will be eroded in a whole range of areas. The 12th round of the trade deal talks have just concluded in the Belgian capital. Our correspondent Jerome Hughes has more on the story from Brussels.
