A ‘remote disaster training’ course in Tasmania is offering Australian doctors a chance to save lives in the wilderness.
The program is aimed at providing doctors, paramedics, rescue teams and others with the right medical skills and knowledge in case of an emergency.
Participants are taught how to deal with an outdoor, extreme, medical situation, whether it be a natural disaster or a medical emergency in a remote location.
The instructor says more courses are being planned and the exercises are based on real events.
Medics hope the skills acquired during the course, may one day help save lives around the world.
