Cheetahs sprinting towards extinction: Study
Scientists have warned that the numbers of the world's fastest land animal, the cheetah, are quickly dwindling, putting them at risk of extinction.
The Zoological Society of London says Cheetahs’ current status is ‘vulnerable’, but they should be re-categorized as “endangered” on the list of threatened species.
Wildlife experts believe only about 7,000 cheetahs remain in the world. The animal is capable of sprinting up to 75 miles per hour in short bursts.
Cheetahs are vulnerable to several dangers such as prey loss due to overhunting, habitat loss and illegal trafficking.
