New hostel built in Ukraine's Chernobyl exclusion zone
A new hostel has been built in the heart of Ukraine's Chernobyl exclusion zone, one of the most radioactive places on earth.
The 42-room guest-house is fitted with single beds, showers, and free Wi-Fi. Officials say the demand for accommodation in Chernobyl is high due to a large influx of tourists.
All visitors entering the radioactive wasteland should be accompanied by a Ukrainian guide. Tourists are allowed into the exclusion zone that covers around 2,600 square kilometers, but only with permission and for short periods.
The Chernobyl exclusion zone is the area that was exposed to radiation pollution as a result of an accident at Chernobyl's reactor in 1986.
