Tensions are once again rising in the Korean Peninsula. North Korea says it has successfully tested an intercontinental ballistic missile that could hit the US state of Alaska.

The United States and its regional allies were quick to respond. They have requested an urgent UN Security Council meeting to discuss the crisis.

Washington and Seoul also held missile drills to respond to Pyongyang’s latest missile test.
