The President of Iraq’s semi-autonomous Kurdistan region Masoud Barzani says an independence referendum for the region will be held as planned despite international opposition. The central government in Baghdad rejects the vote as illegal and unconstitutional.

In this edition of The Debate, Press TV has talked to its correspondent in Erbil, Ali Musawi, and interviewed Zayd al-Isa, a London-based expert in Iraq's affairs, and a professor at Salahaddin University, Othman Ali from Erbil, to discuss the consequences of the Iraqi Kurdish independence referendum despite international opposition.
