This week, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited Oman. It was the first visit by an Israeli prime minister to Oman in 22 years and the two don't have diplomatic ties.

Netanyahu's visit to Oman came against the background of reports that the Trump administration may soon present its plan for peace between Israel and the Palestinians.

Sultan Qaboos has expressed no interest in mediating between the Palestinians and Israel. Netanyahu's visited Oman just days Palestinian president, Mahmoud Abbas, was in Muscat.
