Simone Halep of Romania has clinched the women’s singles title at Wimbledon, for the first time in her career, after stunning America’s Serena Williams in straight sets.
Halep produced a flawless performance in the final, and outclassed her American rival in just 56 minutes, with two six twos .
It was also Serena’s 3rd major final defeat in 12 months, while falling short of a record equaling 24th Grand Slam triumph.

Meanwhile, Halep, who began the tournament as world No.7, will rise to number four when the next rankings are published on Monday.
