The Russian military has unveiled an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) for reconnaissance purposes that can fly for more than 24 hours without refueling.
On Tuesday, the Russian Defense Ministry released a video of the maiden flight of its six-ton Altius-U drone, showing its flight and maneuvers in the sky, as well as landing.
The test flight, which took around half an hour on August 3, took place at an altitude of up to 800 meters in totally automatic mode at one of the test aerodromes, the ministry said.
It added that all systems of the drone worked properly.
The ministry also said that Altius-U was capable of performing an entire spectrum of reconnaissance missions using optical, radio engineering, and radar.
The advanced drone can also use a satellite control channel, making the radius of its application practically unlimited, it added.
