US arms controversy
Washington is sending investigative teams to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. They will supposedly pursue a probe into revelations by American news channel CNN earlier this year.
An investigation by the broadcaster revealed that American arms sent to the Saudis and Emiratis have trickled down to militants with links to the terror group al-Qaeda. According to CNN, the US State Department says 'continued insufficient responses' by both American allies have delayed the US probe. Observers are questioning why it took CNN to investigate and publicize where US weaponry is ending up instead of the US government.
