Argentine Diego Schwartzman stunned Rafa Nadal in the Italian Open quarter-finals on Saturday, dismantling the Spaniard in two straight sets to reach the semi-finals in Rome where he will face Canadian Denis Shapovalov.
Schwartzman broke Nadal's serve twice in the first set leaving the Spaniard frustrated at 6-2.
After losing serve again in the second set, Nadal managed to break the Argentine's serve for the first time to level at 4-4.
In the end it was not enough as Schwartzman broke the 19-time grand slam winner's serve twice more to win the second set 7-5.
It was Schwartzman's first win over Nadal after having lost to him in their previous nine meetings.
Schwartzman will take on Shapovalov in Sunday's final after the Canadian registered a three set win over Grigor Dimitrov 6-2 3-6 6-2 for his 100th tour-level match win.
