Russia stages Caspian Sea drills amid Armenian-Azeri conflict

Russian military vessels in the Caspian Sea carried out on Monday (October 19) firing drills - the defence ministry showed on their social media channel.

The ministry also said in a statement that the exercises included three ships and were aimed against a potential threat from the air.

The situation in the region was tense due to the outbreak of violence between the Armenian and Azeri armies in the disputed region of Nagorno-Karabakh.
