A message posted on the twitter account attributed to the Leader of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has once again criticized the decision by some Arab states to normalize ties with Israel.
The Iranian Leader said US politicians are badly mistaken should they think they can resolve the region’s problem this way. He maintained that any regime that negotiates with Israel will lose popularity among its people, a sentiment also shared by Iranian lawmakers.
Iranian lawmakers say the US government has destabilized the region under the pretext of fighting terrorism. They say the claim that normalization of ties with Israel would solve the region’s problems is a mere lie.
The United Arab Emirates and Bahrain signed the controversial normalization agreements with Israel during a ceremony at the White House, amid outrage across the Muslim world at their betrayal of the Palestinian cause. Palestinians, who seek an independent state in the occupied West Bank and Gaza, with East Jerusalem al-Quds as its capital, see the US-brokered deals as a stab in their back.
The US-brokered deals make the UAE and Bahrain the third and fourth Arab states to take such steps to normalize ties since Israel signed treaties with Egypt in 1979 and Jordan in 1994.
