Daniil Medvedev of Russia has dispatched Reilly Opelka in straight sets to win the Canadian Open.

It was the American, who pressed Medvedev early in the match, holding him down at 40 love in the fourth game.

However, the top seed withstood all three break points to hold the scales even at 2-apiece.

The Russian then found his breakthrough in the next game and went on to clinch the opener 6-4.

The world no. 2 was dominant in the second set as he broke Opelka twice and won the set 6-3 to clinch his 12th career singles and 4th Masters 1000 trophy.
