Iran have sealed their progression into the knockout stages, with a commanding 6-1 win over Japan in Group B of the 2021 Inter-continental Beach Soccer Cup in Dubai.

After a goalless action in the opening time-frame, Team Melli took the lead, early in the second period through Mohammad Ali Mokhtari. Then, with under two minutes left in the middle time-frame, Movahhed Mohammad-Pour rifled-in a 2nd to send the Iranian crowd into frenzy.

The defending champions went rampant in the final period and overwhelmed Japan with four more goals, while conceding only one, to sign off a 6-1 win. Iran now sit atop group B, level on six points with Russia, but with a better goal difference. The two power-houses, who have both qualified for the knockout stages, will face each other on Thursday to decide the group winners.
