The Carolina Hurricanes clinched a berth in the Stanley Cup playoffs when they rallied for a 5-3 win against the Buffalo Sabres at PNC Arena on Thursday.

Sebastian Aho and Jordan Staal each scored two goals. Seth Jarvis and Andrei Svechnikov each had two assists, and Antti Raanta made 18 saves for the Hurricanes. Now, Hurricanes have qualified for the post-season in each of their four seasons. Coach Rod Brind'Amour had failed to make the playoffs in nine consecutive seasons.

In other games in the NHL, Predators edged Senators 3-2; Canadiens crushed Devils 7-4; Rangers outscored Penguins 3-0; and Flyers beat Blue Jackets 4-1. The Kraken, Maple Leafs, Canucks, Oilers and Flames were also winner sides.
