Forest fire breaks out in southwest China amid scorching heat
A fierce forest fire broke out in the Banan District of southwest China's Chongqing Municipality on Sunday.
The fire started in the forest in Xinyu Village of Jieshi Town in Banan at around 17:00, according to local authorities.
Local fire departments dispatched over 2,000 personnel to the area immediately to combat the blaze.
There were no reported casualties and all surrounding residents were evacuated to safe areas.
At present, fire fighting facilities and equipment, professional rescue forces, logistics support are in place and work to tackle the fire is being carried out in an orderly manner.
