Lula has returned to the Southern region of Brazil, holding massive back-to-back campaign rallies with reinforced security.

It was in this region, that in 2018, Lula suffered an armed attack on his caravan - the same year he was imprisoned for 580 days in Curitiba.

Workers' Party president Gleisi Hoffmann became emotional, reflecting back on that year when Lula was jailed in a move to bar his candidacy.

Polls show that the region continues to be a stronghold for Jair Bolsonaro, however, the incumbent faces fierce opposition, mainly as a result of what is perceived as Bolsonaro’s failed policies.

With just two weeks for the vote, the slogan out here is "Lula in one round."
