Bahrain hunger strike
Political prisoners in Bahrain are continuing their hunger strike for a 5th day. The prisoners have several grievances, including a ban on worshiping and lack of adequate healthcare. Bahraini rights activists say two blocks at the Jaw Prison launched the strike on Monday. Three others began the strike on Tuesday. Some inmates have been recounting their plight from inside the prison.
Plight of Palestinians
To the occupied West Bank, where a funeral has been held for another Palestinian killed by Israeli forces. Mourners in the city of Tulkarm chanted slogans demanding the ramping up of resistance against Israel. Mahmoud Jarrad succumbed to a gunshot wound in the chest, which he sustained during an Israeli raid on a refugee camp on the city. The incursion also left at least eight other Palestinians wounded. The Hamas resistance movement stressed that resistance will continue unabated, vowing that Israel’s crimes will not go unpunished. Meanwhile, four Palestinians have been wounded in clashes with Israeli forces in the town of Kafr Qaddum. Israeli troops carry out attacks against Palestinian towns and cities across the West Bank almost on a daily basis.
Syria terrorist attack
A Syrian army bus has come under a terror attack in Dayr al-Zawr province, east of the country. Syrian media, citing a military source, say the attack took place in a southeastern area of Dayr al-Zawr on Thursday. They say a number of soldiers were killed and injured, without specifying. There has been no mention of which terror group attacked the bus, either. A war monitoring group has blamed it on the Daesh terror group. The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says 23 soldiers lost their lives. Ten more were wounded. Daesh lost its last foothold in Syria in 2019 following fierce battles with the Syrian army and its allied resistance fighters. The group however maintains hideouts, with remnants still active in some places.
