Raeisi’s legacy in Africa

African leaders, governments and people received with shock the news of the martyrdom of Iran's President Ebrahim Raeisi and his entourage, including Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, in a helicopter crash in East Azarbaijan Province.

This tragedy was followed by an outpouring of grief from across Africa with countries and people expressing their sincere condolences to the government and the nation of Iran.

The late President Raiesi was known for his determination to restore Iran's presence and positive influence in Africa. In July last year, Raeisi embarked on his first tour of Africa with the objective of expanding political and economic relations across the continent. It was the first trip by an Iranian president to Africa in 11 years. His visit to Africa left a legacy that will forever be cherished by the people of Africa.

Martyr Amir-Abdollahian was also a great friend of Africa. Before he became the foreign minister of Iran, he served for many years as the deputy foreign minister for Arab and African Affairs. He led Iran's diplomatic efforts for the expansion of comprehensive relations with African countries.
