Top Iranian, Pakistani diplomats slam Israeli atrocities, demand immediate ceasefire in Gaza
Iran and Pakistan have strongly denounced the ongoing Israeli military onslaught against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, calling for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire in the war-shattered coastal sliver.
During a telephone conversation on Sunday evening, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar and Iran’s Acting Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani stressed the need for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and a quick end to the war.
The two sides also exchanged views on the promotion of peace and stability in the West Asia region.
They voiced their respective countries’ enthusiasm to further cement the bilateral relations.

US President Joe Biden announced on Friday that Israel had “offered a new roadmap” to end its nearly eight-month genocidal war against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
Egypt and Qatar have been mediating negotiations aimed at the conclusion of a ceasefire agreement following one in late November 2023, during which Hamas released 105 of the captives that it had seized during Operation Al-Aqsa Storm.
Israel and Hamas failed to reach another ceasefire agreement after talks in Cairo last month.
Among the points of disagreement were the number and lists of Israeli captives and Palestinian prisoners to be released under a swap deal, as well as issues regarding Israel’s partial withdrawal from Gaza to allow free movement of Palestinians in the besieged territory.
Israel waged the atrocious onslaught against the Gaza Strip, targeting hospitals, residences, and houses of worship after Palestinian resistance movements launched a surprise attack, dubbed Operation al-Aqsa Storm, against the usurping regime on October 7.
At least 36,439 Palestinians have been killed, most of them women and children, and another 82,627 individuals have sustained injuries. More than 1.7 million people have been internally displaced during the war as well.
