Iran: US, Israel must be held accountable for genocide in Gaza
Iran says the United States and Israel lost their war on the besieged Gaza Strip and must be held accountable for genocide against the people of Palestine.
Speaking to reporters and media managers on Sunday, Nasser Kan'ani, the spokesman for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, said the United States is complicit in the Israeli regime's crimes against Palestinians in Gaza by providing it with full-fledged support.
"The Zionist regime, with all its military capabilities and political influence, lost on the battlefield against the Palestinian people," he added.
"The biggest loser in this battle against the people of Gaza, in addition to this usurping regime, is the US government," he emphasized.
The Iranian spokesman said world nations and governments are duty-bound to hold the US government accountable for extending full-fledged and unconditional support for the Zionist regime.
Kan'ani highlighted the important role that world nations can play in holding Israel accountable for its crimes against Palestinians.
He noted that media can also play a leading and decisive role in supporting world nations' support for Palestinians.
The Iranian diplomat described support for the oppressed Palestinian people as a "global responsibility" and said resistance groups in the region have demonstrated their firm determination in this regard.
The resistance axis in the region proved that it will never yield to pressure of the arrogant system, he pointed out.
Israel waged its bloody Gaza offensive on October 7, 2023 after the Palestinian resistance group Hamas carried out its historic operation against the usurping entity in retaliation for the regime’s intensified atrocities against the Palestinian people.
So far, the Tel Aviv regime has killed at least 37,084 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injured 84,494 others in the Gaza Strip.
