At least five people have been killed when Israeli missile strikes targeted a convoy of tankers in Lebanon’s northeastern district of Hermel near the border between the Arab nation and Syria.

The so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said, “Three Hezbollah members were killed by nine Israeli missile strikes that targeted a convoy of tankers and a building” in Hawsh al-Sayyid Ali village of the district late on Monday.

The Britain-based monitor added that two other people were also killed in the attack.

The Observatory’s director, Rami Abdel Rahman, told AFP news agency that five others had been wounded and two people were missing following the attacks

Syrian anti-aircraft defense was activated to counter the strikes, according to the war monitor.

The development came hours after Hezbollah said in a statement that several Israeli soldiers were killed and injured as it had targeted a gathering of the forces with “appropriate weapons" at the Manara kibbutz in the Upper Galilee region, which is adjacent to the Lebanese border and overlooking the Hula Valley.

The statement added that the projectiles hit the designated targets precisely.

Separately, the Lebanese resistance fighters struck Israeli soldiers stationed at a building in the Yaron settlement in Western Galilee, leaving behind casualties at the site.

Hezbollah emphasized that the two operations were in solidarity with Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, in support of brave and heroic Palestinian resistance factions, and in reprisal for the Israeli enemy’s attacks on southern Lebanon regions, especially the village of Houla and Shebaa town.

The Israeli military has also been conducting attacks against the Lebanese territory since then, prompting retaliatory strikes from Hezbollah on a nearly daily basis in support of the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.

Hezbollah has pledged to keep up its retaliatory operations as long as the Tel Aviv regime continues its onslaught on Gaza.

At least 37,124 Palestinians have since been killed in the besieged territory, the vast majority being women and children, and another 84,712 individuals injured, according to local health authorities.

More than eight months into the Israeli genocide, vast swathes of Gaza lie in ruins amid a crippling blockade of food, clean water and medicine.
