Pezeshkian in Moscow
Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian has arrived in Moscow to meet with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin. The two heads of state are set to sign a comprehensive strategic partnership pact, a milestone in strengthening bilateral ties. Iran’s ambassador to Russia says the strategic agreement covers a wide range of areas in relations. Pezeshkian is also about to discuss expanding cooperation, including in trade, investment, defense and current issues on the regional and international agenda. The Iranian president’s visit to Russia comes after his trip to Tajikistan where he signed nearly two dozen cooperation documents with Tajik officials.
US-Israeli genocide in Gaza
The Israeli military keeps up its attacks on Gaza, killing more Palestinians in the besieged strip. An airstrike on a tent for the displaced in the al-Mawasi camp took the life of one person. Nine others were killed in an attack in northern Gaza. The victims were members of a Palestinian journalist. The Israeli artillery has also shelled the Al-Zaytoun neighborhood in southeast of Gaza City. Since the announcement of a Gaza ceasefire deal, over 100 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks hitting the blockaded territory. The death toll from the genocidal war on Gaza since October last year stands at around 46,800.
Pro-Palestine rallies
Pro-Palestine protesters have held a fresh rally in the US city of New York, welcoming the Gaza ceasefire agreement that is expected to take effect soon. The protest was held at Times Square where hundreds of activists voiced their solidarity with the Palestinians suffering from Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza for more than fifteen months. The protesters condemned the Israeli regime for stalling the ceasefire to the war that has taken the lives of tens of thousands of Palestinians. They also slammed Washington’s complicity in the Gaza genocide, demanding an end to all US aid to Israel. The protesters vowed that their support for the Palestinians in Gaza will continue even after the ceasefire takes effect. There has also been a separate pro-Palestine rally in the Canadian city of Toronto. The protesters there said that the ceasefire could have been reached much sooner.
