Israeli killing of Palestinians
The Israeli military presses ahead with its indiscriminate attacks across Gaza despite the announcement of a long-awaited ceasefire agreement with Hamas. In one of the latest strikes, at least five Palestinians were killed and several others injured after Israeli warplanes bombed a residential building in al-Mawasi refugee camp, near Khan Yunis, southern Gaza. The Israeli airstrike targeted a Palestinian home in central Gaza, killing at least two people. Israeli jets also struck the home of a Palestinian journalist northeast of Gaza City, killing several people. Over 100 Palestinians have been killed across the Gaza Strip since the announcement of a truce deal between Israel and Hamas. The Israeli aggression which began in October 2023, has so far claimed the lives of nearly 47,000 Palestinians.
‘Resistance foiled Israeli plots’
The Secretary General of Lebanon’s Hezbollah resistance movement hails the Palestinian nation and their resistance for successfully thwarting Israel's plots in the region. Sheikh Naim Qassem has said the ceasefire agreement reached in Gaza reflects the steadfastness of the resistance which has achieved its goals while the Israeli enemy failed to realize its stated purposes. He called on the Israeli regime to stop its aggressive policies, adding that the enemy should not try to test Hezbollah’s patience. Regarding Lebanon’s developments, Sheikh Qassem called on the Lebanese government to take a firm stance against the repeated aggressions by the Israeli regime.
US deadly wildfires
Ten days after the wildfires swept through the US city of Los Angeles, mounted police are searching the fire-ravaged areas, looking for the remains of those who perished. According to the officials, at least 27 lives have been lost, with many still unaccounted for. This comes as frustration is growing among evacuees who cannot return home due to toxic pollution and landslide risks with many expressing their anger at the lack of information from local officials. Meanwhile, the housing crisis in Southern California has worsened significantly, with over 12,000 structures destroyed, exacerbating an already dire situation. Many now in the US are blaming government mismanagement as the main reason behind the death and destruction that has ravaged the country’s south.
