The pro-Palestine advocacy group Hind Rajab Foundation (HRF) has filed a legal complaint in Barcelona, Spain, against an Israeli soldier, continuing its efforts to hold Israeli forces accountable for their genocidal actions in the besieged Gaza Strip.

The Belgium-based HRF announced in a statement on Saturday that the complaint has been filed against Israeli soldier Mori Keisar of the Givati Brigade over war crimes, violations of international law, and the targeting of Palestinian civilians in Gaza.

Referring to Keisar as “Sergeant A” in the statement, the organization said, “The actions of Sergeant A and his platoon demonstrate systematic violations of international humanitarian law, targeting civilians and protected infrastructure.”

The complaint said the Israeli soldier was also accused of “genocide, crimes against humanity, and war crimes.”

The HRF cited extensive evidence of Sergeant A’s “crimes” from January to March 2024, which included the use of a civilian home in Gaza for military purposes, the use of a grenade launcher to attack a clearly marked UN school in Gaza City, the controlled demolition of two civilian homes in Khan Younis, and indiscriminate shooting at civilian homes while being cheered on by fellow soldiers.

The organization also reported that Sergeant A’s platoon has forcibly displaced civilians in Gaza.

“The Hind Rajab Foundation urges Spanish authorities to take immediate action by investigating and detaining Sergeant A to ensure accountability for the atrocities committed,” the HRF said.

HRF initiated legal action against Sergeant A in collaboration with the Palestinian Community in Catalonia, based on evidence that implicates him in various war crimes.

According to a social media post by the Palestinian Community in Catalonia, Sergeant A targeted a UN school with a grenade launcher, demolished civilian homes, and indiscriminately fired upon civilians in Gaza.

Over the past few months, the Belgium-based group has filed numerous complaints, with recent actions targeting Israeli soldiers in Thailand and Sweden, as well as Major General Ghassan Alian, the head of COGAT, in Rome, among others.

Israel unleashed its brutal Gaza onslaught on October 7, 2023, after the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas carried out a historic operation against the occupying entity in retaliation for its intensified atrocities against the Palestinian people.

However, the Tel Aviv regime failed to achieve any of its declared objectives, including the release of captives and the “elimination” of Hamas despite killing nearly 47,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children.

On Wednesday, Israel was forced to agree to a ceasefire agreement, accepting Hamas’ longstanding negotiation terms.

In November, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants for Israel’s prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and former minister of military affairs Yoav Gallant “for crimes against humanity and war crimes.”

Last year, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) ordered Israel to take immediate steps to prevent “plausible genocide” in the besieged Gaza Strip, following a case brought by South Africa.
