Israel ceasefire violations
Israeli forces’ violations of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza continue, as they carrying out fresh attacks across the blockaded territory. In a latest strike, a quadcopter opened fire on civilians in the al-Shaboura refugee camp near Rafah in southern Gaza. At least one Palestinian was killed and several others were injured. Israeli naval boats also opened fire on Gaza beach in northern and southern areas in violation of the truce. The health ministry reported recovery of 53 new bodies from the rubble during a 24-hour period. It added that more than 10,000 Palestinians still remain trapped under the rubble and the figure is expected to rise as search efforts continue. This is while continued Israeli attacks, the massive amount of debris and the shortage of fuel and heavy equipment are hampering search operations. The death toll from Israel’s onslaught, which began in October 2023, has risen to more than 47,100. Over 111,000 others have been injured.
Israel West Bank incursions
The Israeli military continues to raid Palestinian towns and neighborhoods across the occupied West Bank as tensions run high between the regime's forces and resistance fighters. During their latest raids, Israeli forces stormed towns and villages near Ramallah, al-Quds, Bethlehem, Jenin and al-Khalil. The regime has also increased the number of check points across the occupied territories to nearly 900 to tighten the grip on Palestinian fighters. Israeli settlers have also carried out fresh attacks on Palestinians in a number of areas, including Nablus, damaging their vehicles and other properties. Jenin and its refugee camp remained the focal point of the regime's attacks for the second day. According to Palestinian sources, nearly 2,000 families have been forcibly displaced from their homes, with the U-N declaring the camp almost uninhabitable. At least 14 Palestinians have been killed in Israel's raid on the camp so far. The Palestinian Islamic Jihad and Hamas have strongly condemned Israel’s military raids in Jenin, which were carried out in cooperation with the Palestinian Authority’s security forces.
California wildfires
A huge wildfire has erupted north of Los Angeles in the US state of California, prompting new evacuation orders for a region already staggering from previous blazes. Local officials say the fire is being fanned by strong, dry winds that are racing through the area. Evacuation orders have been issued for 31,000 people in the area. Ferocious flames are now devouring Los Aneles hillsides, spreading rapidly to cover more than 3,200 hectares in just a few hours. Television footage showed police driving around the neighborhood urging people to get out. Helicopters and planes were also on the scene dropping water and retardant on the blaze. It's not clear yet what caused the fire. The new blaze came as the greater Los Angeles area still suffers after two enormous wildfires that killed more than two dozen people and destroyed thousands of structures.
