A high-ranking Palestinian resistance commander hails the Gaza Strip’s staying steadfast and strong in the face of 15 months of genocidal war by the Israeli regime.

Hussein Fayyad (Abu Hamza), commander of the Beit Hanoun Brigade of the al-Qassam Brigades, the Gaza-based resistance movement Hamas’ military wing, made the remarks on Thursday in the northern part of the coastal sliver.

“Gaza remains unbroken. We all saw yesterday how Gaza emerged victorious, proud, head held high to the heavens," he said.

The military official was referring to the Israeli regime’s being forced to accept the terms of a ceasefire deal with Hamas amid unyielding and successful resistance operations by Gaza’s fighters.

"Battles are about achieving goals. If you don't achieve your goals, you have lost. As we say in military and civilian terms: The strong; if they are not victorious then they are defeated, while the weak; if they are not defeated, then they are victorious,” Fayyad added.

Fayyad led numerous strikes by the Beit Hanoun Brigades against various Israeli targets during Gaza’s defensive operations throughout the war, including a fateful confrontation that led to the deaths of 15 Israeli officers and forces and injury of dozens of others.

The two weeks running up to announcement of the ceasefire saw Israeli media outlets revealing that the entire membership of the Israeli military’s Nahal Battalion, an infantry brigade, was killed in the battle of Beit Hanoun in the northern Gaza Strip.

Fayyad’s successful commandership and the words of triumph that he issued on Thursday came while Israeli military spokesman Daniel Hagari had announced his assassination on May 23, 2024, following, what the Israeli official had called, a face-to-face clash with the resistance official in a tunnel in Jabalia in northern Gaza.
