The inhabitants of the Gaza Strip displaced by Israel’s campaign of genocide are returning home only to find more bodies under the rubble, thereby adding to the death toll since October 2023, the Gaza Health Ministry says.
Hospitals have received 48 bodies and 80 wounded people in the past two days, the ministry said on Tuesday.
“Daily statistical report for the number of martyrs and injured as a result of the Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip [has been] 48 martyrs (including 37 retrieved from under the rubble and 11 newly reported martyrs).”
The ministry says the newly discovered bodies bring the total death toll since October 2023 to at least 47,354, with 111,563 injured.
The ministry says at least 3,000 people have been "completely melted," making the identification process impossible.
Many Palestinians died under rubble since rescue teams were unable to reach them in time. Israel targeted ambulances.
The health ministry says it hopes all the bodies under rubble will be recovered within 100 days.
On January 15, the Israeli regime, having failed to achieve any of its objectives including the “elimination” of Hamas or the release of captives, was forced to agree to a ceasefire deal with the Palestinian resistance movement.
According to the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics, Gaza has lost about 6 percent of its population due to Israel’s campaign of genocide.
