In a significant diplomatic gesture, Tajikistan's Prime Minister, Qohir Rasulzoda, traveled to Tehran to meet with Iran's Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref.

The visit coincided with the third Economic Summit of the Caspian Sea littoral states in the Iranian capital.

Although Tajikistan is not one of the littoral states of the Caspian Sea, its participation as an observer state this year highlights the growing relations between Iran and Tajikistan.
