Iran FM: ‘Coordinated’ move among regional states needed to end Israeli, US crimes

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi (L) and his Egyptian counterpart Badr Abdelatty

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi says a “coordinated” action among regional countries is essential to end the crimes of the Israeli regime and the US against the countries in the region.

In a phone conversation on Sunday, the Iranian foreign minister and his Egyptian counterpart, Badr Abdelatty, exchanged views about the latest developments in the region, particularly in the Gaza Strip.

Araghchi said the continuation of a coordinated move among regional countries is necessary to stop the Israeli regime’s genocide in Gaza and its aggression against Lebanon and Syria.

He added that the Tel Aviv regime’s acts of aggression in the region pose a serious threat to regional and international peace and security.

Israel ended a fragile two-month-old ceasefire with the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas as it resumed its savage campaign of death and destruction in Gaza on March 18.

It has since killed hundreds of Palestinians, mostly women and children, and has allowed no food, fuel, or humanitarian aid to enter the coastal enclave.

The genocidal war, which began in October 2203, has claimed the lives of more than 50,000 Palestinians, destroyed vast areas of Gaza, and displaced around 90% of the 2 million population there.

Women and children were among at least 20 people who were killed in Israeli airstrikes that hit the Gaza Strip as Palestinians observe the first day of Eid al-Fitr on Sunday.

Following significant losses incurred over nearly 14 months of war and failure to achieve its goals, Israel had to agree to a ceasefire agreement with the Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah. The ceasefire took effect on November 27.

Since the commencement of the agreement, the occupying forces have been carrying out near-daily assaults on Lebanon, breaching the ceasefire, which includes airstrikes throughout the Arab nation.

The top Iranian diplomat also stressed the importance of putting an end to the US airstrikes against Yemen.

The US and its allies have escalated their aggression against Yemen after the country resumed its anti-Israel operations over the regime’s renewed genocide in Gaza.

Washington said it will use overwhelming force until the Ansarallah resistance movement stops its anti-Israel operations.

The Egyptian foreign minister, for his part, elaborated on his country’s diplomatic efforts to re-establish the ceasefire agreement in Gaza.

Abdelatty stressed the importance of making more diplomatic efforts by regional countries to prevent further escalation of insecurity.
