Yemen’s Ansarullah resistance movement has said it will stop Red Sea operations in support of the people of Palestine if the Gaza ceasefire comes into effect on Sunday.

Ansarullah spokesman Mohammed al-Bukhaiti said in a statement on Saturday that the Yemeni movement supports the Gaza ceasefire agreement reached between Hamas and Israel.

“If Israel stops the aggression in Gaza … [we will] stop operations, including attacks against navies and commercial ships,” al-Bukhaiti stated.

Abdel Salam Al-Houthi, a senior commander of the movement, also welcomed the ceasefire deal and described it as an important development.

“Israeli and American enemy were forced to go to the agreement in Gaza after months of committing horrific crimes,” he said.

He affirmed that Hamas's political stance remained “faithful” to the perseverance and sacrifices demonstrated by the people and freedom fighters both on the battlefield and beyond.

“The heroic scenes and the sacrifice of the Mujahideen brothers in the Gaza Strip are great, amazing and influence the enemy’s morale.”

Meanwhile, Ansarullah also warned the “enemy forces” in the Red Sea of the “consequences” of any aggression against Yemen during the ceasefire period in Gaza.

The movement “will confront any aggression with specific military operations against those forces without a ceiling or red lines,” it said in a statement early on Sunday.

The Yemeni army launched its military operations against Israel in November 2023, in response to the genocide in Gaza, where nearly 47,000 Palestinians have been killed so far.

As part of its operations, it has also targeted Israeli-owned or linked vessels in the Red Sea destined for ports in occupied territories.

The operations have dealt a significant blow to the Israeli economy.

The US, UK, and Israel have launched hundreds of attacks across Yemen in an attempt to stop the country’s pro-Palestine military operations.

However, Yemen, steadfast in its support of resistance, has vowed to continue its operations until Israel’s onslaught in Gaza ends.

After 15 months of genocide against Gaza, Israel was forced to agree to a ceasefire accepting Hamas’ negotiation terms, after it failed to achieve its stated war objectives, including Hamas’ “elimination.”
