Eight Iranians have been nominated for several awards at the 2024 edition of Beach Soccer Stars.

The Beach Soccer Worldwide (BSWW) on Thursday announced a shortlist of 120 male players, 50 female players, and 45 coaches, as voting on the top performers of the 2024 beach soccer season began.

Ali Mirshekari, Amirhossein Akbari, Mahdi Shir-Mohammadi, Mohammad-Ali Mokhtari, and Mohammad Moradi from Iran, were among the nominees for the Best Men’s Player award.

Also from Iran, Hamid Behzadpour and Sayyed-Mahdi Mir-Jalili were shortlisted for Best Men’s Goalkeeper.

Meanwhile, the Best Coach shortlist included Iran’s Ali Naderi Hosseinabadi.

“This year’s award winners will be determined by the votes from the coaches and captains of all the Football Associations and National Beach Soccer Member Associations, and the coaches and captains of the beach soccer clubs that have participated in at least one of the following events: the World Winners Cup Alghero 2024, Americas Winners Cup El Salvador 2024 or the Euro Winners Cup Nazaré 2024,” the BSWW reported.

They have until February 23 to cast their votes, and the winners will be announced at the Beach Soccer Stars gala 2024 whose date and location are yet to be declared.

Iranian men's national team, better known as Team Melli, bagged the bronze medal of the 2024 edition of FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup, held in Dubai in January 2024.

The team are now preparing to defend their title at the 2025 AFC Beach Soccer Asian Cup, slated for March 20 to 30 in Thailand.
