Israel stalling peace deal

Hamas has warned Israel will be held responsible for stalling the implementation of the Gaza ceasefire. The movement says Israel is preventing the return of displaced Palestinians to the northern parts of the territory by blocking al-Rashid road in central Gaza. The regime’s move has stranded Palestinians who seek to return to their homes. Meanwhile, Israel accuses Hamas of reneging on its commitment under the deal, by failing to release Arbel Yehud. The regime says Palestinians’ return to their homes will hinge on a confirmation that she is alive. Hamas says it has already offered the confirmation and denies any breach of the agreement. The movement says Israel must fully withdraw from Gaza as part of its obligations.

Israeli occupation of Lebanon

Tensions are running high between Lebanon and Israel as the regime in Tel Aviv missies a Sunday deadline to withdraw its forces from the Arab country’s south. Reports coming out of south Lebanon say several people have been killed as Israeli forces open fire on people trying to return to their homes. Lebanon’s heath ministry has put the death toll at one, saying nearly 20 others have been injured. The Lebanese army has released a statement saying the process of their deployment in the south has been hindered due to Israel's failure to completely withdraw its forces. Lebanese citizens however, say they will return to their villages and towns, despite the Israeli presence. Hezbollah has also issued a warning to Israel, stating that any violation of the agreement under any pretext will not be tolerated. The Israeli Prime Minister has recently said that the regime will keep its forces in southern Lebanon beyond the agreed deadline.

US expelling Muslim students

An American civil rights group has warned of a rising trend in targeting international students to have them deported from the US following President Trump’s executive order. The Arab American Anti-Discrimination Committee reports receiving multiple accounts of pro-Israeli groups harassing Arab and Palestinian students to remove them from the country. These groups are directly contacting students, threatening to report them to the Department of Homeland Security for deportation. They are also pressuring universities to disclose the names of international students to US officials in hopes of their removal. Under a new executive order signed by Trump, the Department of Homeland Security can deny or revoke visas based on ideological beliefs. Anti-Arab and Muslim sentiment has surged since the signing of the order.
