BBC plans to cut over 1,000 jobs to reduce costs
The state-funded BBC plans to cut more than a thousand jobs as part of a long-term drive to reduce costs.
The job cuts are also in response to changing viewing habits that have cut the British broadcaster’s income. The BBC indicated that the majority of the positions to be cut, out of more than 16,600, would be in management. It says the move is aimed at becoming a simpler, leaner organization. The recent economic downturns have forced numerous job cuts in Western countries which have also affected media corporations.
